Bloomington is having its best season in two decades and made some history in the process in Week 5.

The Purple Raiders scored 49 first-quarter points and advanced to 5-0 for the first time since 2004 Friday with an 84-0 thrashing of Urbana in Big 12 Conference play at Urbana

BHS (4-0 Big 12) scored its most points since 1914 and netted 322 yards on just 18 plays from scrimmage.

The Purple Raiders got started with an 86-yard kickoff return for a touchdown by Keyontae Hamilton.

Rob Lanier rushed for 135 yards on six carries and scored on jaunts of 33, 56 and 12 yards.

TaVarrion Rodgers had touchdown runs of 20 and 26 yards, Mikey Kimmell found the end zone with rushes of 14 and 16 yards and Seyller Green scored on an 18-yard surge.

Isaiah Martin's two TDs came on a 20-yard fumble return and a 54-yard sprint. Jamari Sutton brought back an interception 40 yards for another score.

Central Catholic able to break streak

After losing its previous two games, Central Catholic got back to its winning ways with a clutch victory over perennial power Tolono Unity.

Sam Keller rushed for 154 yards and a 75-yard touchdown and Valshun Powe picked up 114 yards and a 60-yard score in Central Catholic's 20-10 Illini Prairie triumph over Unity at Tolono.

Grayson Schnierle chipped in a 10-yard scoring run as the Saints moved to 3-2 overall and in league play.

Normal West able to slow Peoria

The West defense held a Peoria offense averaging over 60 points in check in a 20-18 win at Normal.

Cody Muhlbauer and Copper Temples ran for TDs for West (3-2, 3-2 Big 12) as Peoria (4-1, 3-1) suffered its first loss.

Efoe Baskins returned a wind-blown punt 12 yards for a Wildcats' score. Baskins, Shawn Watkins and Brady Hart intercepted Peoria passes.

U High tests Rochester but falls

Alek Weiland completed 31 of 53 passes for 402 yards but U High was outdone by Rochester in a 38-30 Central State Eight East battled at Rochester.

Weiland tossed TD passes to Deegan Aeilts, Cade Cunningham, AJ Holden and Drew Rader. Aeilts had three catches for 122 and Cunningham seven for 97.

The Pioneers are 3-2 and 2-1 in conference action. Ranked fourth in 4A, Rochester advanced to 3-2 and 2-1.

NCHS eases past Peoria Manual

Class 7A No. 10-ranked Normal Community led 42-0 at the half and won by the same score at Peoria Stadium.

The Ironmen are 4-1 and 4-0 in the Big 12, while the Rams slipped to 0-5 and 0-4.

Chase, special teams propel GCMS

Jacob Chase totaled 214 yards and three TDS on 21 attempts and Trent Wetherell blocked two kicks as GCMS downed Heyworth 38-12 at Gibson City.

Logan Ward recovered a blocked punt in the end zone for the Class 1A No. 9-ranked Falcons, who improved to 5-0 and 4-0 in the Heart of Central Illinois Conference's Small School Division.

Heyworth (2-3, 2-3) scored on a 10-yard Brayden Brucker run and a 4-yard pass from Parker Bell to Braxton Denning.

LeRoy unstoppable on the ground

Ranked fifth in 1A, LeRoy piled up 435 yards on the ground and did not throw a pass in a 57-7 demolition of Tuscola at LeRoy.

Bo Zeleznik carried 13 times for 170 yards and a TD. Landon Welte scored from 11 and 51 yards. Kobe Brent tallied scores on a 68-yard punt return and a 67-yard jaunt.

Also running for scores for the Panthers were Stephon Williams, Sam Wagner and Brett Helfrich. Wagner tacked on a safety on defense.

LeRoy hiked its records to 5-0 and 4-0 in the HOCIC Small School Division. Tuscola is 3-2 and 3-2 in league play.

Tri-Valley defense dominant

Cole Klein rushed for 157 yards and scored touchdowns from 39, 1 and 2 yards in Tri-Valley's 42-0 HOCIC Large victory over El Paso-Gridley at El Paso.

The Vikings (4-1, 3-0) received Ethan Moore scoring passes of 34 yards to Justin McNeely and 13 yards to Cade Danko. Moore

EPG (2-3, 1-2) got 64 yards passing from Owen Adams and 47 yards on eight reception from Jayvion Maxon.

Ault has monster night for Prairie Central

Hudson Ault ran for 171 yards and touchdowns of 10, 4, 2 and 23 yards as Prairie Central handled Chillicothe IVC 47-7 at Fairbury.

The Hawks (3-2, 3-2 Illini Prairie) also saw Will Skala register scoring runs of 18 and 9 yards. Dalton Steidinger found Caiden Schulz with a 13-yard TD toss.

Running game keys Lincoln victory

Kyle Koehler provided 85 yards rushing, Paytan Bunner 82 and Gabe Smith 75 to spark Lincoln past Decatur Eisenhower 55-24 in Central State Eight East play at Lincoln.

Bunner and Smith ran for two TDs, while Koehler and Jaedyn Gulley each had one for the Railsplitters (3-2, 1-2).

Lorton shines but Fieldcrest falls

Eddie Lorton ran for 124 yards on 27 carries for Fieldcrest in a 21-0 loss to Warrensburg-Latham at Minonk.

The Knights are 1-4 and 0-4 in HOCIC Small games.
